The short version. DrinkOff! has no adverts from ad networks, no analytics and no tracking cookies. Playing on your own device stores your settings on that device only. If you play online, we keep what's needed to run your games: the name and kit you choose, your mates, your games and your results. Strangers on the world leaderboard see only your initials unless you choose otherwise. We never sell any of it.
Who we are
DrinkOff! is made by b3rry.dev (“we”, “us”), which is responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us about anything on this page at [email protected].
DrinkOff! is for adults
DrinkOff! is a pub game carrying drinks advertising, so it asks you to confirm you're 18 or over before you play. It isn't meant for anyone younger, and we don't knowingly collect data about children. If you think a child has played online, contact us and we'll remove their data.
What stays on your device
Everything below is kept in your browser's storage on your device. It isn't sent to us unless it's part of playing online (next section), and you can clear it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
- Your answer to the 18+ question.
- The kit you pick for each player: names, initials, mat colour, glass and drink.
- Your settings: sound and music volume, slow-motion replays, the last match length, difficulty and table size you chose, and whether you've already been asked about notifications or adding the game to your home screen.
- If you play online: your player credential (an id and a secret that proves this device is you), and a copy of your mates and games so the app can show them quickly.
These are needed for the game to work the way you've asked it to, so they don't need your separate consent. We don't set cookies.
What we keep if you play online
Playing against friends online (“Challenge a mate”) needs a server. When you first play online we create a player for you and keep:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your player id and a secret token | So your devices can prove they're you. |
| The name and kit you choose | So your mates, their notifications and the scoreboard know who's playing. |
| Your friend code and your list of mates | So you can challenge people you've played before. |
| Your games: moves, scores, whose turn it is, when they started and finished | To run the game between your devices and your mates'. |
| A record of each finished game: who played, the names used at the time, scores and placings | For the leaderboard. |
| Your world leaderboard choice (initials or full name) and your mat colour | To show you on the leaderboard the way you've chosen. |
| Your notification subscription, if you turn notifications on | To tell you when it's your move. |
We use this to provide the online game you've asked for. Notifications are only sent if you switch them on, and you can switch them off in Settings or your device's settings.
The leaderboard
- Your mates see your name, as they do everywhere else in the game.
- Everyone else sees only your initials (for example “I. B.”) and your mat colour, alongside your rating and number of games, unless you choose to show your full name in Settings → World board. You can change your mind at any time.
- Names shown in full still go through a basic filter, and we may show initials instead of a name that fails it.
Signing in with Google
If you choose to sign in with Google, so you can use the same player on several devices, Google tells us a unique id for your Google account. We store only that id, linked to your player. We don't store your email address or anything else from your Google account. Google's sign-in is only loaded when you tap the button, and Google handles that sign-in under its own privacy policy.
Sponsors
Some of the advertising boards in the game carry real sponsors. Tapping one opens a page about that sponsor inside the game. If you then choose to visit their website, the link goes through an affiliate network (Awin), which may set cookies on your device under its own policy so the sponsor knows the visit came from us. Nothing is shared with sponsors unless you follow the link.
Who else handles your data
- Cloudflare hosts the website and the game server and stores the online data described above. The main database is in Cloudflare's Western Europe region; the servers that run live games may be elsewhere in Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare keeps short-lived technical logs of requests to the game server (for example the time, the address requested and your IP address), which we use only to find and fix problems.
- Your browser's push service (such as Apple's) delivers notifications if you turn them on. Notifications are encrypted so that the push service can't read them.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google (see above).
We don't sell your data or share it with anyone else, and we don't use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your online player, games and results for as long as the game is running, so your record and your mates' records stay complete. The request logs mentioned above are deleted automatically within a few days. You can ask us to delete your online data at any time (see below).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] with your friend code (shown in Mates & games) so we can find your player. When we delete a player, their name is removed from past results as well.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
